  • The unemployment rate for workers 55 and older is 7.1 percent.
  • Older workers spend an average of 36 weeks out of work.
  • On average, 51.4 percent of older workers spend 27 weeks or longer out of work.
  • Of unemployed older workers, 199,000 got discouraged and gave up looking for jobs.
